We’ve been working with a group of 8 – 10 year olds all through the summer holiday. We’re making a film together about what it would be like to live on Mars.
We started by visiting At Bristol Science Center and drawing a giant blueprint of what everyone imagined our house on Mars to look like. We thought about how we’d power the house, the airlock features, growing food, communications with Earth, and what kind of living quarters we’d need inside if you were going to live happily and permanently on another planet.
Then we started making our film – using stop motion animation made from drawings, and models of the house on Mars in a mini Mars landscape. This week we’re finishing by working with an actor on voice-overs and short acting cameos.
This project is a collaboration with film maker David Ravenscroft, who we’ve worked with several times before.
It’s been a really fun project to work on and it’s all looking great in the editing stages so far!
The film will be finished mid September and we’ll be holding a special free screening event at The Wardrobe Theatre on Saturday 16th September.
