Tomorrow is the last of our tour of weather balloon launches. We are really excited about it and a little sad to come to the end of this tour. In honor of it being the end of this tour we have booked a band, the Radstock and Midsomer Norton Silver Band will be playing a few songs throughout the event.
The weather looks good for tomorrow, there is a chance of a couple of spots of rain but unless this turns into a down pour we will go ahead. The launch is happening at 1PM in Midsomer Norton at the Silver Street Nature Reserve, BA3 2EY. You can use the entrance on Silver Street or Park Way. Once in the reserve follow signs to the meadow. Feel free to bring a picnic, and there’s stuff to do to help the launch happen, so if you want to get involved do, but if not you can just watch.
This week we have been meeting people from around Radstock and Midsomer Norton in the lead up to the launch. We gave a workshop with year 5 at St Nicholas C of E Primary School. We gave talks to Radstock WI, Midsomer Norton Town Womens Guild and The Friends of Silver Street Nature Reserve. We also went along to Radstock Youth Hub and met with some of the people that use the club. It feels like we have really had a chance to meet a wide variety of people that live in the area and are hoping that some people we’ve met will be able to make it tomorrow. We’ve even been on popular local radio station Somer Valley FM to make sure as many people know about it as possible!
Here’s a picture of us at The Friends of Silver Street Nature Reserve meeting which happens to be at the chairman’s house. It was lovely to give our talk in the informal setting of a living room, although the big crowd meant that some people had to share chairs.
